Glo Mega Music: Omawunmi, PSquare, 2Face, others meet Ekpoma students

The university town of Ekpoma, Edo State, was overcome with unusual excitement during the weekend as Nigeria’s top artistes stormed Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State for the Glo Mega Music Nationwide Tour (GMMNT). GMMNT, billed to take place in 27 cities across the nation, has evidently become one of the biggest and most entertaining music concerts in the country.

It has so far lived up to the promise Glo made at the flag off of the concert in April. “We are confident to say that no corporate body has ever assembled the number of A-List artistes that will be performing at the shows and this makes the shows to be very unique,” the company said.

The best in the nation’s music industry namely 2Baba, Flavour, P Square, Phyno, Timaya, Olamide, Runtown, Yemi Alade, Reekado Banks, Korede Bello, Di’Ja, Kiss Daniel, and Omawumi performed under the same roof and to students in one night.

The show was held on the premises of the Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma and attracted students and members of the academic community of the university and some fun-lovers from the town.

Speaking after the show, Caring Ogbegie, a student in the Department of Microbiology at the university, said that, “in my three-year sojourn on this campus, I have never witnessed this type of show. When the SUG guys said all these stars would be coming, I never believed them.” Comrade Cletus Oribhabor, the President of the University’s Students Union Government (SUG), said it was an evening that students and members of the academic community would never forget for a long time to come.

Anchored by two Nollywood actresses, Uche Jombo and Ebube Nwagbo, it saw cameo appearances like Nollywood legend, Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD), ace actress, Angela Okorie, and renowned comic, Victor Osuagwu. Addressing the students, Globacom’s National Sales Coordinator, Mid-West, Mr Augustine Mamuro, said that the Glo Mega Music Nationwide Tour was designed to appreciate the university community for their support for the Glo brand over the years.

“This show is at no cost to any of you here and this goes to show how we value and celebrate our subscribers in Globacom.

In the Globacom family, our subscribers are kings and queens and I can assure you all that we shall continue to attend to both your telecommunications and social needs” The University of Ekpoma was the 14th location for the mega tour. Other cities to slated for the show are Awka (Anambra State), Owerri (Imo State), Asaba (Delta State), Aba (Abia State), Calabar (Cross River State), Port Harcourt (Rivers State), Ajah (Lagos State), Benin City (Edo State) and Abuja (FCT).
