Senator Ali Wakili, Chairman Senate Committee on Poverty Alleviation, representing Bauchi South senatorial District has died after a heart attack at 58.
According to a family member, Mr Wakili slumped at his Gwarimpa residence, Abuja on Saturday morning, and was rushed to Viewpoint Hospital, where he was certified dead.
His funeral service was held yesterday and his remains laid to rest in Abuja. Senate President Bukola Saraki, Bauchi State Governor, Mohammed Abubakar, Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima were among the dignitaries who attended the burial.
Governor Abubakar declared a three day mourning in Bauchi, in honour of Wakili.
Mr Wakili’s last moment was his visit to Kano for Dangote daughter’s wedding yesterday (Friday). He survived by two wives and 11 children.
