Again, WAEC withholds results of indebted state-sponsored candidates
The
management of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) Friday
declared that some of the candidates sponsored by some state
governments to sit for this year’s edition of the West African Senior
School Certificate Examination but who are indebted to the Council may
not be able to access their results when others are checking for theirs
within the next 24 hours.
The
Head of Nigeria’s Office of the Council, Mr. Olu Adenipekun, who
declared this yesterday while announcing the release of the results,
also expressed his joy over the improvement recorded in the candidates’
performance.
He
said 878,040 candidates of the total 1,552,758 who sat the exam , and
amounting to 52.97 per cent, secured credits in five subjects including
English and Mathematics.
Adenipekun,
who regretted that some of the candidates owing the Council may not be
able to access their results, appealed to the indebted states to fulfil
their pledge, saying the concerned authorities have been committed to
fulfilling their pledge and would expect them to do so soon.
