Pep Guardiola set to sign Dani Alves plus Tottenham, Southampton stars

Pep Guardiola continues to spend There’s no doubt that Man City mean business this summer.

Having finished last season in third spot, Man City will be looking for silverware next season on both Premier League and Champions League fronts. Pep Guardiola is moulding City’s squad before his second season in the dugout, and the Sky Blues have already spent big money on bringing in Bernardo Silva from Monaco and Ederson from Benfica. But that’s just the start, as Goal.com claim City are targeting four new full-backs.

Dani Alves ‘is close’ For several weeks, despite being one of the best players at Juventus, rumours have swirled suggesting
Dani Alves could be off. On Saturday those rumours crystalised after Gonzalo Higuain posted a goodbye message to Alves on social media, which he later deleted. Goal.com now report that Alves is “close” to becoming City’s third signing of the summer. The Brazilian, of course, worked with Guardiola at Barcelona. Tottenham, Southampton stars City also have three more fullbacks on their radar. Links to Monaco left-back Benjamin Mendy are still live, as City negotiate a 40 million pound deal with the Ligue 1 champs for the French international.

Guardiola is also looking at England internationals from Tottenham and Southampton: Kyle Walker and Ryan Bertrand. Goal.com report: (Dani Alves) demonstrated throughout last season that he still has what it takes to play the kind of intelligent, high-intensity football that Guardiola wants from his City full-backs in the coming years. Those are traits identified in Walker, Mendy and Bertrand, and City will continue working on those deals in the coming days and weeks.
