Arsenal v Chelsea
The opening mathces ahead of the new Premier League season will be kicked off on Sunday at Wembley Stadium, as they go head to head in the Community Shield.
Chelsea face Arsenal at the Twin Towers, a few months after the Gunners beat the Blues in the cup final. Fans will be excited to see several new signings in the game. Chelsea have brought in Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid, while Arsenal have smashed their club transfer record on Alexandre Lacazette. Koscielny & Moses
Ahead of the Community Shield, there has been confusion over two defenders: Laurent Koscielny and Victor Moses. The 2016-17 season ended on a sour note for for Koscielny. He was sent off in Arsenal’s final match of the Premier League season against Everton, and his appeal was rejected as he was slapped with a ban.
That meant he missed the FA Cup final win over Chelsea, while he was served with a three game ban. As for Chelsea, Victor Moses was sent off in the FA Cup final versus Arsenal for diving. He picked up a one-match ban. Both clubs hit with bans On Tuesday, the Evening Standard revealed that Koscielny is free to play against Chelsea, while he’ll miss Arsenal’s opening Premier League matches against Leicester and Stoke.
It’s now become apparent that the FA got the wrong date on their website for when Moses’s suspension will be over. They’ve now corrected their mistake and Moses in fact will have to serve his suspension during the first match of the season proper, on August 12.
To be clear, Moses is free to play against Arsenal in the Community Shield.
