Ex-Santos boss Muricy Ramalho says Paris Saint-Germain manager Unai Emery is to blame for the penalty dispute between Neymar and Edinson Cavani, calling him a “banana”.
The two forwards appeared to argue over who was to take the penalty during PSG’s victory over Lyon on Sunday.
Cavani, not €222 million man Neymar, was eventually the striker chosen for spot-kicking duty – only to have his shot saved by Anthony Lopes.
Former Santos manager Muricy, who coached Neymar between 2011 to 2013, says that Emery is to blame for the disagreement between the two strikers, slating his disorganisation for not allocating a penalty-taker himself and believes the “poor” policy is a poor one will prove to be costly.
“This team and that coach are very disorganised,” Muricy said on SporTV (via Goal) . “It’s his [Emery’s] fault for what happened. “Here, I always defend the coaches, but this one is guilty.
It’s a mess. Everything comes out of a lecture. There is no such thing.” And former Santos boss Ramalho, who coached Neymar between 2011 and 2013, thinks that policy is a poor one, arguing Emery deserves blame for the in-fighting between the Brazil and Uruguay attackers.
