Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo has won The Best FIFA Men's Player award Ronaldo was up for the prize alongside fellow superstars Lionel Messi and Neymar in a ceremony held at the London Palladium last night.
And the Real Madrid and Portugal forward took the prestigious honour. Ronaldo, who has scored 44 goals in 48 appearances in 2017, including 33 for Real and 11 for Portugal, claimed a La Liga and Champions League double with Los Blancos last season.
“Thank you to all my fans all over the world. I appreciate that. I'm so happy”
The 32-year-old, who was presented the award by icons Diego Maradona and Ronaldo, said:
"Thank you for voting for me. “I want to mention Leo and Neymar here and I want to thank Real Madrid for their support all year.
"We are in England for the first time, and I win it for the second consecutive time. This is a great moment for me"
“Thank you to all my fans all over the world. I appreciate that. I'm so happy, thank you very much and have a good night!"
Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has enjoyed another memorable year.
Lieke Martens won the women's player award after inspiring Holland to victory on home soil at Euro 2017.
The Barcelona forward came out in front of fellow nominees Carli Lloyd, who collected the award last year, and Deyna Castellanos.
Real's Zinedine Zidane took the best men's coach while Holland boss Sarina Wiegman won the female coach award.
Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud scoped the Puskas gong, Juventus’ Gianluigi Buffon was named the top goalkeeper and Celtic won the Fan award.
