AC Milan is set to table a staggering £80 million bid for Sergio Aguero in January.
According to the Sun on Sunday, the Italian giants are prepared to pay whatever it costs to land the Argentinian.
Milan were set to bring Aguero to the San Siro in the summer, but the deal apparently fell through as it depended on Manchester City bringing in Arsenal’s want away Alexis Sanchez.
But with Pep Guardiola set to re-open negotiations for Sanchez in January, Milan are wetting their appetite with the prospect of bringing one of the most prolific strikers in the world to Serie A.
The Verdict
One in, one out. It would be fairly logical business from City should they be able to land Sanchez in January.
Sanchez, arguably, complements Guardiola’s system more and, if the City boss were to answer truthfully, he would most likely prefer the Chilean to Aguero in his team.
With Sanchez’s fee likely to be less than the £60 million offered by City in the summer – due to Sanchez have just months left on his contract – if City were to sell Aguero for £80 million and buy Sanchez for, hypothetically, around £40 million, it would be a shrewd financial transaction, freeing up funds for more players.
