Friendly feud Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly had a secret conversation at the FIFA Player of the Year awards and what was said will amaze you.
The pair have been in a constant battle for the best player in the world and both seem to have no appetite for slowing down.
Though, it was Cristiano Ronaldo who came out on top this year, scooping up the FIFA Player of the Year award and is expected to claim the Ballon d’Or.
Even still, one of the biggest talking points of the recent awards was what was seen between Messi and Ronaldo.
The Argentine reportedly told the Real Madrid star that he deserved to win the award prior to the announcement.
While fans of the pair do tend to get hostile in the argument, it has actually been revealed in the past that the pair are actually quite friendly.
Ronaldo’s documentary a couple of years back revealed that the pair actually had a fairly decent relationship.
This is only their latest show of affection towards each other and while there is a rivalry, both would admit that the other brings out the best in them.
We will have to wait a little bit to find out the result of the Ballon d’Or but if the FIFA Player of the Year award is anything to go by, we know the winner.
Ronaldo was asked “is this the end of the Messi era?” His response: “No, it is not. Because Messi and I live in the same era.”
