Must read: How to get a high CGPA as a fresher.

The heartbeat of students in the university system is their CGPA (Cummulative Grade Points Average). This is the average of a student’s grade points by the number of semesters he/she had spent in the institution. It is used to place a student in the gradual order of first class, second class upper down to a third class. Or probably a certificate of attendance which of course has no cognizance in the academic world. A student can go extra miles from cheating to accepting sexual harassment in order to keep it high. A common statement is that, every fresher has the CGPA of 5.0, it is now left for the student to keep up with this or drop it. Logically, this statement is correct.

Students tend to have problems with keeping up with this CGPA of a thing despite its enormous importance to them. This post was not written in order to give you step-by-step methods on how to study and pass. This is because everyone has his or her own methods and pace of reading and understanding.

Writing on my method of reading and understanding would rather be a rash thing to do. And I bet you don’t want to know how I do mine. It’s crazy. Rather, this is written to hasten your awareness of certain things that weigh students down as early as being a fresher. Don’t worry if you’re reading this and you’re not a fresher, this article still has a lot for you in store. So keep on sweetheart, you’ve made a very good decision reading this.

The foremost thing to do as a student is to understand your sleeping habits and peak energy intervals. This refers to the time at which you as a unique individual has the most energy for study and work and also the time a person feels sleepy, or of less energy in his or herself. With this in mind, you as a student should now be able to curb your own periods of serious reading. I mean very serious reading- definitely not the type with your mobile data turned on.

Besides knowing your sleepiness range, you should also keep in mind a focus for everyday. Don’t just keep it hanging there in your mind - I mean, your mind isn’t a closet. Is it? Set daily goals and make sure you accomplish those goals for each day and rub it off your mind. You could also choose to keep record of this. Doesn’t really matter though as far as you accomplish your goals then I guess that’s it. Right?

Another tip is, don’t keep your work piling up. Never use statements like, “I’ll keep it for tomorrow or probably the weekend”, it just slows you down. Like a friend of mine would say, ‘We could have been in next month by now if not for the fat girls walking slowly’. Haha, just kidding though, but don’t let your school work be your fat girl. Keep them slim and fit. Actually this is one major thing everyone, even the best of students tend to face, but in the end they usurp it. And I declare that it’s not inevitable for you. I’ll give you a task, go and check your dictionary for the word, PROCRASTINATION. Just check it even if you know the meaning, after that make sure you avoid that word. Not a good word at all.

Now you might not feel comfortable with this point, but truth is that it helps so much you can hardly imagine. RELATIONSHIPS. Well, yes on a more general term than just the romantic relationship with the opposite sex. ‘Show me five of your friends and I will tell you who you definitely are,’ the statement above has more to it than just the superficial meaning. Relationships tend to take a lot of time and if not had in the proper way could be as disastrous as anything else.

‘Proper’ here I intend to be ambiguous in particularly two perspectives, first I refer to the time spent on every relationship and secondly I refer to the kind of relationship you have as a student- what kind of people you mingle with (is it the studious, partying, or generally unserious type?). Take good note of all of these. I mean literary, pick a pen and jot everything down.

And lastly, is very much of an advice. Try as much as you can to blend with everyone you meet in school. This will make things happen in your life. Have good close friends. Yes. But carry others too along as you encounter them. Being able to fit into every group of people helps manage your temperament and exposes you to new ideas.

Who knows, you could impact positively in their lives, especially if you follow these simple guides, just as they could if you shared this article with them. Take this last point as seriously as every other point. School is not just where you go to read tons of books and pass exams well, it’s a universe, a myriad of opportunities, so don’t miss out on just your books.
