Carl Jenkinson is one of the many players who didn’t have the chance to fly to Australia as a part of Arsenal’s pre-season programme. The Gunners touring contingent involves newly signed Alexandre Lacazette and Alexis Sanchez who has been in the newspaper headlines due to his on and off transfer speculations. Jenkinson has arrived at a very crucial point in his career as the right back is no more the preferred choice at the Emirates Stadium since the rise of Hector Bellerin. Six years have passed since his move from Charlton back in 2011 but the 25-year-old hasn’t been able to establish his authority at the Emirates. He had two brief loan spells with West Ham United and his performances were very promising but his lack of game time for the Gunners saw his stock fall heavily in the last couple of seasons. Jenkinson is right now in a very crucial period of his career and with the return of Calum Chambers, opportunities would be very hard to come by. Burnley
Despite limited resources at his disposal, Sean Dyche’s side’s performance has exceeded all the expectations and the supporters would be hoping for more of the same in the next season. Burnley have been pretty active in the transfer market as they have already roped in Jack Cork from Swansea City, Charlie Taylor from Leeds United and Jon Walters from Stoke City. Dyche would be eyeing a few more possible entrants and Jenkinson might be one of them. He may not be having a good time at the Emirates but he definitely has that potential to blossom in a club like Burnley.Newcastle United
The Magpies need some stability on the flanks and a move for Jenkinson could be one of the options for Rafa Benitez.
The Spaniard has gone frustrated over the lack of activity in the transfer window and Jenkinson’s signing could give him some respite. The English right back has explosive space and is a very sound defender but it would need a bit of convincing to bring the player permanently to the St James Park. West Ham United Slaven Bilic brought in Pablo Zabaleta from Manchester City but the Argentine is currently 32 and with the increasing pressure of the Premier League it would be very hard to cope up for him while Sam Byram needs some more polishing to get ready for the big stage. Jenkinson has been made available by Arsene Wenger and Bilic should use this opportunity to seal a move for the player.
